Event description

Description

HaymarketHQ will be our host with the Shenzen Economic & Trade Office (SETO) providing direct sponsorship - allowing you all to come along for free and has been kind enough to sponsor beer and pizza! Event starts at 6pm, with talks starting at 6:30pm sharp.

October is applied machine learning month here at Sydney Machine Learning with two amazing presentations from startups, presenting their products & ideas, the trials and tribulations of creating a machine learning startup, lessons learnt & how they are using machine learning techniques to change the world.

We are lucky enough to have two presentations from three amazing speakers:

Will Scully-Power is the co-founder & CEO of PASCAL51 a SaaS based customer experience automation platform which automates the creation of campaign logic, analytical insights and then determines the next best action.

Will’s presentation is titled “Simple automation of customer journeys, automated insights and next best actions using machine learning” and is outlined below:

First Presentation Summary:

The customer journey is not linear, yet we as marketers are forced to build linear based customer journeys.

These customer journeys are hard to build, complex to test and optimise and require an army of technically skilled resources to manually implement and manage. This costs organisations valuable time and money and makes it almost impossible for them to measure customer journey campaign effectiveness and return on investment.

Join Will Scully-Power as he presents how PASCAL uses machine learning to allow marketers to easily integrate multiple data sources, set-up pre-build customer journeys, automate campaign insights and recommendations and execute next best actions, using a chat bot style interface with natural language to simplify this entire process.

John Ball & Beth Carey are the co-founders of Pat Inc, a multi-lingual Natural Language Understanding (NLU) startup. Thier presentation summary is outlined below:

Second Presentation Summary:

Today, over 10 million Amazon Alexas have been sold because people want to communicate with machines in their natural language to achieve tasks. But we are still in the infancy of natural language interaction with machines because of a few open scientific problems. One of the most insurmountable has proven to be NLU - natural language understanding.

Ever since his university undergrad lecturer challenged him that 'computers would never understand human language', inventor John Ball has been focused on the problem leading him to build an NLU solution based on his theory. His solution? A linguistic system implemented with Patom theory.

Where machine learning's applications are vast and growing, co-founders John Ball and Beth Carey will present a specific solution to a specific problem - machine reading comprehension. They will cover:

  1. Pat's story as a startup built around deep technology
  2. The technological solution, presentation of benchmarking results and findings
  3. Q&A around the solution and positioning in the AI world of machine learning.

Time: 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Venue: 2/63 Dixon St, Haymarket NSW 2000
