Supportive Leadership following Challenging Events

The Simulation team (Dr Jenni Sokol) will be delivering a 3.5 hour course on how to support your staff following challenging events with Psychological First Aid (PFA). Please note that sessions will be combined for clinical and non-clinical staff in 2023.

This course is generally directed at RCH processes but is generalisable to external participants if they wish to attend.

Exposure to challenging events involving extremely sick children, or non-clinical events involving staff or patient and family interactions, can be distressing. This course aims to provide a framework on how to facilitate immediate “guided reflection” (Psychological First Aid-PFA) around challenging events in order to provide support for staff involved.

Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, and Non-Clinical staff who may be required to facilitate such sessions are encouraged to attend.

External Nursing/Allied Health - $225

External Medical -$375

Payment can be made with Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

If you have registered to the waitlist, please email simulation@rch.org.au so tickets can be released - if maximum numbers have not been reached - for you to register.

*Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be made in writing to simulation@rch.org.au

We will always try to accommodate your circumstances and, according to our cancellation policy, offer a refund or rebooking on another date. We recommend that you advise us of your preferred date(s) to transfer your ticket. We will advise you of availability and offer you a waitlist if all tickets have been exhausted.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

• Cancellations of more than 28 days prior to the course will be offered a full refund, minus administration fees.
• Cancellations between 21-28 days prior to the course will incur a 25% cancellation fee, minus administration fees.
• Cancellations between 8-20 days prior to the course will incur a 50% cancellation fee, minus administration fees.
• No refunds will be made for cancellations of less than 8 days or in the event that you do not show up on the day of the course.
• Eventbrite fees will non-refundable.

On the very rare occasion that the RCH Simulation Program has to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances, the applicant will be reimbursed the full cost of the course. The RCH Simulation Program is not responsible for any travel or accommodation costs the applicant has incurred as a result of cancelled courses.
