About this event

This masterclass provides a summary of the material covered in the typical 2-day Skills Training workshop (Part 2 of the PsyBA-approved Full Supervisor Training for new supervisors).

All PsyBA-approved supervisors are required to attend at least one masterclass every 5 years to maintain their supervisor status. Attendance at this workshop satisfies that requirement.

The content of this masterclass serves as a refresher of the fundamentals of supervision practice and sub-topics include:

• AHPRA Competency Based Supervision requirements

• Differentiating between various form of supervision

• Seven guiding principles of effective supervision practice

As part of PsyBA and AHPRA requirements, there will be a quiz at the end of the master class which participants will need to successfully complete.

The workshop is presented online via the zoom platform. We will require all participants to switch their cameras on for the duration of the training and will also require participants to communicate with each other in small break-out groups via both video and audio for interactive sessions throughout the day. If circumstances require cancelling or rescheduling the masterclass, we will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible.

Presenter: Dr Chien Hoong Gooi, Clinical Psychologist & Board-approved Supervisor Trainer

Psychology is the study of mind and behaviour. It is one of the most interesting and challenging areas of scientific enquiry with the potential to benefit both individuals and society as a whole.

Members of the School of Psychology study a diverse range of topics such as children’s development of language and knowledge, how mood affects our social behaviour, bias in eyewitness testimony, the brain mechanisms underlying pleasure and pain, and the causes and treatment of psychological disorders ranging from psychopathy to depression and post-traumatic stress.

We offer a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and earn more competitive research funding and publish more Tier 1 journal articles per academic than any other School in Australia.
