About this event

Hosted by Monash Tech School and delivered by Monash University, Superdigital is a series of webinars for students undertaking or considering undertaking VCE Algorithmics and VCE Applied Computing in senior secondary government schools throughout Victoria.

The webinars will help students understand how their interest and aptitude for digital technology translates to further studies and real-world applications.

Rather than focussing on the key knowledge and skill requirements of a subject, this series is focussed on enriching students’ passions towards these studies and its eventual applications in research or industry.

Superdigital assembles inspiring researchers from across Monash University. These experts will engage with students from across Victoria to cover aspects of VCE Algorithmics and VCE Applied Computing in ways that enrich and extend students’ understanding of how their current or future studies in computing apply and relate to emerging and world-changing technologies.

The format goes beyond a standard VCE masterclass. Inspiring academics and technologists will also communicate their research passions and increase students’ awareness of their field’s current or future impact on societies.

The Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University is a research-intensive group with an extensive array of cutting-edge solutions in development.

Examples include:

  • zero-knowledge proofs used in cryptography,
  • natural language processing used in Artificial Intelligence, and
  • digital mental health in human-centred computing.

VCE teachers would also be interested in attending the sessions as a way of expanding their professional understanding of how an interest in computing and digital technologies translates to research.
