Stretch and Learn
Overview
We live in a world saturated with diet culture, body shame, morality around food, and constant pressure to meet unrealistic standards. With so many mixed messages, it can be hard to recognise what a healthy relationship with food even looks like, especially when disordered patterns are often normalised and celebrated.
This workshop offers a gentle space to unpack the realities of eating disorders, explore the difference between eating disorders and disordered eating, and move beyond the narrow stereotypes that dominate public perception. It will discuss eating disorders beyond stereotypical anorexia, delving into the role of genetics, neurodivergence, temperament, trauma, culture and beyond (and why - by extension - eating disorders have nothing to do with vanity).
Stretch and Learn is ot a typical workshop, but one that welcomes folks of all abilities, interests and learning styles. It uses conversation, myth-busting, Lived Experience Expertise, neuro-affirming practice, somatic grounding and kinaesthetic learning to explore how to foster body neutrality, compassion, and shame-free eating.
We will share food in a neutral, celebratory way, modelling what it means to eat without guilt, fear, or rules. This session is suitable for anyone wanting to better support themselves or others, challenge diet culture, and build a more inclusive, weight-neutral approach to care.
