Street photography is all about being present - observing, anticipating, and capturing fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.

Join digiDirect and Nikon Australia in this immersive, on-location class, led by Nikon Creator and travel photographer Dylan Chen, who will guide you through the vibrant surroundings of Elizabeth Quay, showing you how to approach the street with confidence, creativity, and purpose.

Timed perfectly to span the shift from afternoon light to golden hour and into the rich tones of sunset, this workshop lets you experience how changing light can influence mood, exposure, and storytelling. You’ll learn how to adapt to different lighting scenarios on the fly, and how to use light intentionally to enhance your composition.

Throughout the session, Dylan will share his process from setting up his camera to reacting to spontaneous moments and give you practical tools for building stronger visual narratives through your images. You’ll also explore techniques like panning to add motion, framing and using repetition for impact, and spotting patterns or symmetry in everyday spaces.

Whether you’re just getting started with street photography or looking to refine your technique, this is an opportunity to develop your eye, build confidence shooting in public, and expand your creative approach all in one of Perth’s most photogenic urban environments.
