STOmics Breakfast Workshop Featuring Spatial Multiomics Tech Stereo-seq

Due to BGI's growing presence and influence in the world, BGI Australia was established on the 16th of August 2016 to support its growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Its office is located at the prestigious QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Herston, Brisbane. Being the world's largest genomic organisation with leading sequencing platform and superb bioinformatics analysis capability, BGI Australia is devoted to facilitating cutting-edge research and applications in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and environment.BGI Australia's strategic focus includes:- Collaborate with organizations, to advance research and discoveries in genomics, Medical health, Agriculture and Biodiversity in Australia and Pacific regions;- Establish centralized platform to provide technology transfer, training, services and industry incubation to the community;- Provide sequencing systems, analysis tools and services to healthcare providers to promote public well-being in areas of reproductive health, cancer, rare diseases, infectious diseases etc..

BGI Australia

Empowering Ageing and Cancer Research Using BGI Stereo-seq™ with Unprecedented Field-of-view, High Throughput and Subcellular Resolution

Boulevard Auditorium, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

SpaTial Enhanced Resolution Omics-sequencing (Stereo-seq™) from BGI Research brings you in situ spatial transcriptome analysis at single cell resolution. Built on DNA Nanoball (DNB) technology, Stereo-seq™ allows unbiased transcriptome analysis with an unprecedented field of view. In this workshop you will learn about the technology and how it has been empowering Australian scientists in their cutting-edge research:

The simple and accessible Stereo-seq workflow, advanced data analysis tools including SAW and Stereopy, and the latest development of the technology;

Dr Quan Nguyen from the University of Queensland will talk about his frontier study in advancing the understanding of differential and communicative aging between organs, suggesting potential therapeutical targets for regulating aging processes;

Dr Jennifer Currenti from Curtin University will talk about her team's carcinoma study and their revolutionary approach by combining two complementary technologies Stereo-seq and Jumpcode to improve the ability to annotate cell types and discover cellular niches while reducing the sequencing cost of the workflow.

Agenda7:15am Breakfast and Coffee Open7:30am Opening Address by Mr. Richard Harrison, BGI Australia7:35am An Accessible STOmics Workflow for Any Laboratory Dr. Kira Sun, Field Application Scientist, BGI Australia7:50am Building Spatial Multi-organ Ageing Clocks (s-MACs) Dr Quan Nguyen, Group Leader, Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland8:10am STOmics-GenX: When Stereo-seq™ meets Jumpcode Dr Jennifer Currenti, Researcher, Curtin UniversityEach talk will include a short Q&A session at the end of the talk.
