Start as You Intend to Go On: Mini urban retreat

Elwood Angling ClubElwood, VIC
Sunday, Feb 1 from 10 am to 1 pm AEDT
Overview

Forget resolutions. In 2026, we're doing something different. Beachside Elwood. Everyone welcome.

Turn your resolutions into habits in 2026 and Start as You Intend to Go On .

We're creating the habits we want to instil in the coming year.

Make time to start 2026 as you intend to go on: calm, focused, rested, and ready. It's about showing up for yourself and connecting with what matters most.

As you transition into a new year, this mini retreat offers you a meaningful pause to connect body and mind. Through gentle yoga blended with a little qi gong, and meditation, explore life transitions, personal leadership, and the art of truly showing up for yourself.

Explore:

Your Inner Warrior - Drawing on the wisdom and sacred teachings of indigenous peoples from around the world, you'll embody the Inner Warrior, not the battle-ready fighter, but the one who has the courage to be vulnerable, who knows what they stand for, and what it means to show up fully present in life.

Life Transitions + Intentions – Life is as much about the big chapters as it is about the pages in between. Consider any shifts in meaning, purpose, or direction that's unfolding in 2026, and explore what meaning you choose to make of these experiences.

Tools For Self-Regulation - Practical somatic techniques you can use all year: breath practices, body awareness, and ways to tend to your nervous system when life gets overwhelming.

This Retreat Is For You If:

· You're curious about experiencing body-mind practices with purpose,

· You value moving through life from a place of calm clarity, not chaos,

· You value personal leadership and want to connect with your inner leader,

· You're a professional who knows rest and reflection aren't luxuries – they're essential - it's time to get out of your head and into your body.

Experience

· Gentle yoga and qi gong (suitable for all levels – no Cirque du Soleil moves happening here),

· Guided meditation practices,

· Reflection exercises,

· Deep relaxation,

· Good vibes and fun.

The Setting

We gather in the Main Hall of the Elwood Angling Club, a spacious light-filled room that is practically on the beach, with spectacular bay views. There's something about being near the water that is naturally relaxing. The space is welcoming, the setting is peaceful, and the views are stunning. Teas, fruit, and biscuits will be provided.

What to bring

This is a wonderful venue, however, it is not set up as a yoga studio. We each need to bring our own equipment.

Please bring your own yoga mat, and any items that provide comfort such as a cushion, blanket, eye cover, bolster.

If you require a yoga mat, please let me know in advance - I do have a few tucked away.

Please wear clothing that allows you to move freely and relax comfortably.

During relaxation, the body tends to cool down. You may wish to have a shawl, blanket, and / or socks nearby to keep you cosy.

Perhaps a journal and favourite pen to capture notes of your experience throughout the day.

You might wish to bring your bottle of water.

Space is limited to ensure an intimate, supportive environment.
