About this event

Research Impact & Societal Engagement (RISE) is a theme in the RMIT Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences for Health Network. Please join us for this upcoming RISE Reading Group discussion. We’ll focus on the interplay between community engagement and other academic priorities, and how this interplay affects the people involved in research. As a case study, we’ll consider “How far does an emphasis on stakeholder engagement and co-production in research present a threat to academic identity and autonomy? A prospective study across five European countries,” by Boaz et al. (2021) (https://doi.org/10.1093/reseval/rvab013). Researchers new to partnerships must determine how to balance collaboration and influence – how do you maintain independence and integrity while working closely with community, business, or government? And how should shifting research roles be navigated?
