The beloved Melba Hall Lunch Hour Concert Series returns in 2024 with free performances from students, staff, alumni and friends of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

<h4>Booked Out</h4><h4>This event is booked out, but there is often a drop-off in attendance for our free events on the day of the performance.</h4><h4>If you arrive at the venue before the advertised start time and make yourself known to Front of Housestaff, in most instances we will be able to find a seat for you once audience members with tickets have been seated. Please note that entry without securing a ticket in advance cannot be guaranteed. At its core is César Franck's celebrated Violin Sonata, complemented by the playful compositions of Lili Boulanger. <h4>Artists</h4>Sophia Kirsanova, violinBerta Brozgul, piano <h4>Program</h4>Lili BoulangerCortègeNocturneD’un Matin du PrintempsCésar FranckViolin Sonata in A Major <h4>About the artists</h4>Latvian violinist Sophia Kirsanova enjoys an international career having performed throughout Europe and Australia. Sophia has been a soloist with orchestras including the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Concertante (LV), and Israel Camerata. Sophia is the founder and Lead Violinist of Melbourne Strings, an all-female string ensemble and has held professional positions with chamber orchestras Sinfonietta Riga (2005/6) and Israel Camerata (2009-18). Dr Kirsanova teaches violin at the University of Melbourne, international master classes and at her private violin studio.Pianist Berta Brozgul is a graduate of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria with highest honours, she is the recipient of many prizes in Australia including the fourth prize in the prestigious Lev Vlassenko piano competition in Brisbane and numerous prizes at the Australian National Academy of Music including the Ursula Hoff prize for outstanding performance in a solo recital. She has performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and recently with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Benjamin Northey.
