Special Event: In Memory of these Magnificent Trees

We invite you to join us!

In the past week, people across our communities have been devastated by the loss of century old heritage trees along and near Centennial Park. We support light rail, however the destruction of so many significant trees was unnecessary.

This Saturday, 16 January, 2016 at 9:30am, a ‘Memorial Service’ is being held at a beautiful spot near Randwick Gates at Centennial Park (off Darley Road). There will be someone at the gates to direct you.

We invite you to join us wearing black. A procession from Randwick Gates to Maidens Row will follow the 'memorial service' and conclude the event. We invite you also to be part of the procession.

Our purpose is to celebrate the beauty and life of these most magnificent trees that have long stood so majestically – and we hope our actions sends a loud message to the Government, this must not happen again.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

A bus stop on Alison Road (near Darley) is the closest. Parking is also available in Darley Road and Grand Drive at Centennial Park.

What if it rains?

There may be chance of light rain on Saturday. Unless there are heavy storms we will be going ahead with the event. If you have any questions or need directions call 0403 351 261.

What should I wear?

Please wear black. We ask attendees not to carry protest/placards in the procession. Rather there will be time for this at the conclusion of the ceremony at Maidens Row.
