Speaking from Experience

The Health Promotion Unit is part of UNSW Health and Wellness. It promotes the health and wellbeing to UNSW  students. Health is not merely the absence of disease but involves our physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing. It underlies our ability to achieve academically but also our life satisfaction.  It is influenced by the environment we live, work and play and also by the choices we make.

One voice can make a difference - World AIDS Day 2019

UNSW Library

Commemorated annually on 1st December, World AIDS Day is an opportunity to increase awareness, to educate, to fight prejudice, and to show support for those living with HIV.Join us in the UNSW Library Exhibition Space (Level 5) for the opportunity to hear a first-hand experience of a student living with HIV (from the Positive Speaker Bureau and Positive Life NSW). This event is being held in conjunction with the Strong and Powerful – Remembering the age of AIDS exhibition. This exhibition presents posters and ephemera drawn from personal collections that capture the community-lead response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic during the 1980s and 90s in Australia. These personal and collective voices continue to shape the Australian understanding of HIV/AIDS and together reveal the enduring impact and memory of this public response within the affected communities. You will have the opportunity to view the exhibition, purchase a red ribbon for a gold coin donation and enjoy some morning tea and coffee. Spaces are limited, so please register.
