Soprano & Piano Recital: Italian Love Songs Through the Ages
Soprano Mikella and pianist Astrid in an intimate evening of Italian love songs
The Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney is delighted to present soprano Mikella and pianist Astrid in an intimate evening of Italian love songs. This special program brings together poetic and expressive works from different eras, all united by their celebration of Italian melody, lyricism, and dramatic depth.
The recital spans a rich musical journey: from the youthful energy of “Non so più cosa son” from The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to the timeless elegance of “Caro mio
ben” by Giuseppe Giordani. The heartfelt simplicity of “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi and the profound devotion of “Vissi d’arte” from Tosca - both by Giacomo Puccini - highlight the soaring emotional world of Italian opera. The program also includes “Che farò senza Euridice” from Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck, a work of classical beauty and expressive pathos.
Mikella is a soprano
spinto with a passion for dramatic repertoire, while Astrid is an accomplished pianist and former piano teacher. Although their professional careers led them into the corporate world, both artists have reconnected with their musical roots and are thrilled to perform together for this special event.
