Metro Arts is developing the future of Australian contemporary arts practice, now.Championing all contemporary art forms, the two core activities of the organisation are developing and co-presenting contemporary arts.Within five stories of a heritage building in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, there are artists taking risks, creating, developing, experimenting, and presenting ambitious contemporary art. In addition to the artistic program Metro Arts supports the wider artistic community with low cost short and long term venue hire for creative businesses, photo shoots, rehearsals, exhibitions, performances, auditions, forums, celebrations and more.Step inside our unique building in the Brisbane CBD and our Norman Park Substation and take a closer look at our artists pushing boundaries and creating exciting contemporary exhibitions and performance for you to see and experience.Metro Arts acknowledges the traditional custodians of Brisbane, the Turrbal and Jagera people and their unique relationship with their ancestral country. We pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, and recognise their strength, wisdom and creativity.

Something Like Dancing is an ongoing performance work by Jacqui Shelton. This work unfolds over multiple discreet, one-on-one sessions between Jacqui and a participant. The work is adaptable and can be performed in quiet spaces such as a home, a studio, a park bench, or a library.
In this work, a participant will meet with Jacqui for an hour, with the option of subsequent sessions. In each sitting, they will be taught to recite a short story written by Jacqui, using no props or visual cues beyond their voice. Jacqui will meet you at Metro Arts at the allocated time, and will guide you to a quiet location outside of the gallery where the performance will take place – likely the Botanic Gardens or Riverside, weather dependant. 
For it's presentation at Metro Arts, if you want to participate in the work you can book in your session(s) here. The work includes a total of three stories that can be spread over three meetings, but the option of booking just one is available. For multiple bookings, these can be spread out over three days, or over three weeks. If you would like to participate in the performance and there are no times listed that fit your schedule, please get in contact with Jacqui either via this event or through Metro Arts and we will arrange an appropriate time outside of business hours.
