Dairy Road

Join us for a sunset program of contemplation and celebration at Dairy Road’s new space, LESS.Solstice Night includes a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, bonfire, fireside chat, stargazing and a free performance by Barkaa.Taking place just before the start of the southern hemisphere winter solstice, LESS Solstice marks the opening of a new public art work and place named LESS at Dairy Road.LESS, designed by Chilean art and architecture practice Pezo von Ellrichshausen, consists of 36 concrete columns and a circular ramp that leads up to a viewing platform. The structure is populated with 6,000 individual plants of over 50 different plant species, many of which are endemic to Canberra. A small and continuous shallow stream will run through and down the structure’s columns, pooling, running and returning.Dairy Road is a neighbourhood that Molonglo is slowly developing in Canberra’s East Lake, on Ngunnawal Country in an area known as Biyaligee. Over the next 10 to 15 years the site will be populated with retail, light industrial, commercial, residential, creative and cultural spaces. The very beginnings of this transformation are already underway.Full line-up to be announced.
