Solid 2026 Hackathon

Welcome to the Solid 2026 Hackathon!

Brought to you by ANU Software Innovation Institute and Canberra Innovation Network, and with the support of our sponsors across the Australian tech community and global Solid movement

Join us for a hands-on event bringing together software engineers, data scientists, data privacy and security specialists, legal professionals, and designers to build the next generation of decentralised web applications using the Solid protocol, putting users back in control of their own data.

Participants will:

• Learn privacy engineering in practice - design and build secure digital services powered by private data vaults, gaining skills that are rapidly becoming essential as governments and organisations move toward integrated, user-controlled data ecosystems.
• Develop cross-platform apps for privacy, security, and user-owned data - built on the open World Wide Web Solid specification, you'll leave with practical, transferable expertise to create interoperable services that work across platforms and put individuals in command of their digital lives.

Delivery mode and Timing

The hackathon will run for 2.5 days from Tuesday 14th to Thursday 16th July, starting at midday on the first day, with that first half day available in hybrid online or in-person mode for those unable to attend three consecutive days in-person. The event is held in person only on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th July.
