Social Media in 60 Minutes (with a little help from ChatGPT)
A fast, friendly and hands on workshop for small businesses, community groups and anyone wanting simple, stress-free social media.
Social media doesn’t have to be overwhelming, time‑consuming or complicated. In this free and practical 60‑minute workshop, you’ll learn how to create simple, effective content using the tools you already have — plus discover how ChatGPT can act as your brainstorming buddy, writing assistant and pocket‑sized content coach.
Whether you’re posting for your business, community group, hobby or personal brand, this session will help you build confidence, save time and walk away with real, ready-to-use content.
What we’ll cover
- What actually works on social media and how to create easy, effective posts with just your phone.
- The truth about social media myths and common mistakes to avoid.
- What ChatGPT can and can’t do — it can help you plan and write, but it won’t replace your voice.
- How to shape your brand’s tone and personality so your content feels genuine and “you.”
- Simple ways to use ChatGPT as a creative partner to brainstorm ideas and polish your messaging.
- Plus, extra tips on easy content creation, what the algorithm likes, scheduling with Meta, helpful apps, and clever tricks to boost your reach.
You’ll get real outcomes from this workshop — not just notes. Here’s what you’ll take home:
- Hands‑on practice defining your voice, creating captions and planning a month of content.
- A chance to take quick photos or videos and use ChatGPT to turn them into posts or reels.
- Real, ready‑to‑use content you can publish straight away.
- A ChatGPT prompts guide and an Ideas Organiser to support your content planning after the session.
- More confidence using social media and AI, all in a relaxed, jargon‑free environment.
There will also be time during the session for questions, real examples and troubleshooting.
This workshop is facilitated by Alina Hart, a regional Queensland social media educator who helps small businesses, community groups and individuals feel more confident, less overwhelmed and more relaxed about creating content. With a background in Social and Behavioural Science, she blends psychology, storytelling and practical, real‑world experience to make social media simple, genuine and doable.
Delivered by State Library of Queensland’s Regional Digital Development project, supported by the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business.
