Social media has many benefits for anyone working in the creative sector, including:

  • An invaluable platform to showcase and celebrate creative work.

  • An indispensable way to engage with existing and potential clients and stakeholders in a positive and interactive way.

  • An excellent avenue for communication of design and project information.

Social media has become an integral part of business in the 21st century. There are now more than 3 billion people around the world using different social networks. However, social media has moved beyond ‘social’ and become important platforms for communication and branding. Recent research indicates that more people are following businesses and brands on social media than celebrities.

In this workshop, practical exercises are blended with information that is relevant and reliable in an interactive context. A comprehensive and detailed Workbook is included in this workshop.

3 CPD points for architects and designers. The content of this seminar is linked to the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) National Standard of Competency for Architects (2015 edition) and addresses the unit of competency of ‘Practice Management’ and the knowledge domain of Communication. Communication via social media channels relate to Performance Criteria 9.8 Clear and consistent communication with client and relevant stakeholders throughout project.

Learning Outcomes:

1) Identify and understand the benefits of social media for client/stakeholder communication, project information dissemination, image archiving, and brand building;

2) Identify and understand the relative communication strengths and benefits of key platforms - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube;

3) Build a resource that includes attendees practical how-to Social Media sessions and illustrates the ways in which social media can add value.
