Step into an exceptional creative evening at the gallery with Sketch & Sip Circus Soirée. Circus artist and model, Miss Candy will perform, pose and tells stories of life in the circus. Guided by a professional art tutor, with drink in hand and pencil poised, take part in this expressive drawing session, set among this year’s portrait exhibition. Expect captivating storytelling, colourful circus costumes, art and self-expression.
Artist Bio
With an international career as a circus artist spanning 3 decades, Ring Mistress, Miss Candy, aka Kate Reid, aka The Marble Circus has travelled Australia and the world, performing at bespoke private events, massive international extravaganzas and working with remote outback communities.
Travelling across NSW in a black and yellow double decker bus with 13 other circus artists. Building a 6ft tall re-cycled sari made stilt elephant called ‘Goliath’ that ends up unintentionally blessing 100+ babies at a Diwali festival. Hiding in a tin shed during an outback donkey stampede. Hula-hooping on top of a 5m tall pole attached to a motorbike and side car fronting the Bathurst 100 parade a decade prior to the internet where such things were definitely not ‘the norm’ in Bathurst. Working with Brisbane’s legendary ‘Rock’n’roll Circus, (now rebranded as ‘Circa’). Living in the Carriage Works for 6yrs prior to its renovations as an ‘art space’ as part of a unique Circus arts collective and Circus ‘Lab’. Being Circus Arts Company in residence at The Hard Rock Hotel in Bali. Touring 26 young artists from Brewarrina to the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Making Circus Art films in a marble studio in Carrara, Italy … and more.
