Skeleton Girls. A Kidnapped Society - Q&A Screening
On the run and hunted by media, Anna joins a group of social outcasts in this indie punk thriller to fight for their place in the world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anna Kaiser is on the run after a fatal incident, making matters worse she is now entangled in a dangerous plot involving notorious girl gang the Skeleton Girls. Hunted by a 24-hour news cycle frenzy Anna finds refuge within the Rat Nest, an underground community of social outcasts whose own existence is under threat. As the world closes in on them, Anna and her new crew must now decide whether to remain on the fringes of society or to finally fight for their place in the world.
A wild ride across a post-Australian landscape, Skeleton Girls. A Kidnapped Society is a mind melting mix of bold animations, dark satire and punk thriller narrative. Six years in the making, this indie-punk film by writer-director Richard Eames was independently produced by husband-wife team Eames and Helena Tay, and is a provocative dissection of the issues of our times: the polarisation of the world, the spectre of fear and violence, and the ideological fight for influence in society.
In true DIY punk spirit Skeleton Girls. A Kidnapped Society smashes convention and challenges what is possible on a micro-budget. Epic in scope, featuring a large ensemble cast of fresh Australian talent, a pulsating original score along with a host of killer punk & post-punk tracks, this digital hardcore Wizard of Oz fable is a provocative punk thriller with a dark satirical streak and bold visual style.
Imagine the mutant off-spring of Run Lola Run, Subway, Suburbia and Repo Man with a healthy dose of mixed-media flair and you’re part way to knowing what you’re in for!
