About this Event

Join the APCO team for our weekly Community Webinars to explore the sustainability topics that matter most to our network.

As companies worldwide strive to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in line with global carbon budget and commitments made under the 2015 Paris agreement, Science Based Targets (SBTs) are emerging as an effective benchmark by which to plan and review progress towards a low-carbon business model.

SBTs provide a framework for companies to articulate their emissions reduction objectives, based on current, independent climate science. A growing number of APCO members have made public commitments to SBTs, establishing a whole-of-business agenda for delivering emissions reductions.

This week we are pleased to bring you some of the leading practitioners on SBTs; Jonas Bengtsson, CEO of Edge Environment and Corinne Schoch, Head of Programmes at the UN Global Compact.

Topics for discussion include:

  • Challenges packaging presents for emissions reductions - when assessed from a carbon intensity perspective, packaging can be a significant contributor to Scope 3 GHG emissions.
  • Opportunities for packaging to reduce the carbon footprint of a business - including improved design, material and distribution efficiency, alternative delivery models and much more.
  • How businesses can use SBTs in partnership with other APCO tools and resources, such as the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines, PREP and the Australasian Recycling Label, and in concert with others, such as Lifecycle Assessment.

There is still time to register with Zoom, follow this link. If you are new to Zoom please check out our cheat sheet here.
