Event description

Description

A MORE HUMAN-FELT FUTURE IS A MORE SENSORIAL ONE, ONE DESIGNED FOR & WITH OUR SENSES.

Saturday 16 March

Wholly embracing of the provocative power of the world around us, Sensory Experiments is a call for change. It’s time to pause, engage with something entirely new but ever-familiar, and consider your (re)connection with self, others and nature.

In this fully immersive experience, participants will be still and be moved. They will be offered interactive performance, tastes, scents, textures and more. They will create the Manifesto for Sensory Intelligence – a record of sensorial responses to stimuli-saturated Sense-Scapes. The Manifesto will be digitally transmitted in real time to create a living, breathing mandate for human-centric design.

In two-hour phases an eclectic cohort of wildly imaginative minds will suggest new ways of feeling.

Internationally renowned chef Justin James (Executive Chef of Vue de monde and Iki Jime and previously of Eleven Madison Park & Noma Copenhagen) will reignite your sense of taste. Floral artist Hattie Molloy interrogates sensual perception with her reckoning of the Sublime. Absorb and participate in live-choreographed performances, and be aurally challenged by the masters behind the Sydney Opera House’s iconic acoustics.

Come, be curious. Snatch a revelatory glimpse into a more sensorial world.

This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2019, an initiative by Creative Victoria in partnership with NGV.

Along with a wine tasting from event partner, Pord, there will also be a selection of delictable food on offer throughout the day in the Dining Hall.
