Landscapes hold memories; the places we've been, the views we return to, the natural spaces that ground us. As part of the NSW Seniors Festival, this beginner-friendly workshop invites seniors to explore watercolour as a medium for capturing the essence of place.

Bring a photo of a landscape that matters to you (even just on your phone). Use your favourite beach, childhood garden, local park, or holiday view to learn foundational watercolour techniques to translate it onto paper. We'll cover washes, gradients, lifting paint, and playful mark-making to create skies, water, trees, and texture.

What you'll learn:

  • Basic watercolour techniques: washes, gradients, lifting, organic mark-making
  • How to approach painting a landscape from a photo
  • Working with the fluid, spontaneous nature of watercolour

What you'll create: A unique watercolour landscape inspired by a meaningful place.

No experience needed, this is a beginner-friendly session for seniors. Please bring an inspirational photo. This can be on your device or a physical printed photo.

Cost: $8.50

Age: Adults 50+

Equipment: Please bring a photograph of a landscape that is meaningful to you. All other materials are provided.
