About this event

Join us on Tuesday, 22nd August 2023 at The University Club of Western Australia as we launch the Centre for Water and Spatial Science (CWSS).

The Centre for Water and Spatial Science (CWSS) is hosted within the University of Western Australia (UWA) School of Agriculture and Environment. The Centre brings together world-class water and spatial science experts from within the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, Earth Sciences and Engineering at UWA to seek new water knowledge in a changing climate.

The changing climate challenges our ability to manage food and water security, economic well-being, and the environment. Understanding catchments, rivers, aquifers, estuarine systems, and coasts, and how they respond to the changing climate must be at the forefront of responding to this challenge.

The Centre for Water and Spatial Science focuses on five themes:

  • Water in a Changing Climate
  • Resilient Landscapes
  • Catchment to Coasts
  • Data Driven Discovery and Spatial Analytics
  • Research Teaching Nexus

Through this event and the ongoing seminar series, we hope to create opportunities for knowledge-sharing, collegiality, and cross-sector partnership. Together, we will develop new knowledge needed to sustain water, people and our environment as climate continues to change, in Western Australia and beyond.

The launch event will feature short presentations from lead researchers, in addition, discussions will allow for in-depth conversations and the exchange of ideas. To ensure an enjoyable experience, we will provide a fully-catered morning tea, allowing participants to network.
