Many men grew up with role models that were problematic or sacrificial - whether around a parent, a warrior image, their country, work, career or religion. While seemingly noble, self-sacrifice can lead to emotional exhaustion and eventually a quiet withdrawal from life.The antidote to this is self-love, perhaps learning for the first time, what self-love and self-care for a man might look and feel like. Without self-love and self-care as a foundation, men’s sacrificial efforts in supporting others can come at a great personal and progressive cost.There is limited support for men’s needs, because men don’t ask for help and because their quiet voices can be easily missed.Second Chapter Man (SCM) runs four times each year over three consecutive Sundays in South Brisbane, concluding with a legacy event held outdoors on the third Sunday following the completion of the program.Men benefit from a renewed vision based on five pillars:1. Strengthen your heart, fitness and diet2. Grow wealth, security and wellbeing3. Mastering forces of love, intimacy and sexual desire4. Finding purpose and joy through work, life and career5.
