How do I register for Open Day?

On this page, click register now at the top of the page. We'll then ask for a few of your details to help us plan and understand your needs for the day. Once you've submitted your registration you will receive a confirmation e-mail in your inbox to the e-mail address you used to register.

How much does the event cost to register?

Registration and attendance at all our Open day events is free.

Question 3

Can I attend more than one Open Day event?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Some of our centres are located in close proximity to each other, which means you can potentially attend up to a few on the same day. If you do register for more than one, some of our centres will need you to indicate your approx. arrival time during registration to help with planning.

Question 4

How long does the event go for?

Accepted Answer

It starts at 10am and ends at 12pm. We will ask you to indicate your approximate arrival time at registration, to help our staff our staff plan for and coordinate the day. We appreciate you arriving promptly, but from there you can stay as long as long as you'd like, up until 12pm.

Question 5

Does registering and/or attending help me move up the waitlist/guarantee me a place at a centre?

Accepted Answer

No.  Attending any of our Open Day events does not guarantee any family a place at the centre. Open Day is an opportunity for your family to experience and see our SDN village for yourself. You can speak to the team directly about joining our waitlist or enquire about availability.

Question 6

Can I bring my child?

Accepted Answer

Of course! We'd love to meet your child, get to know them better, and see what they think of the centre too. Please note that while our centre staff are busy providing tours, they cannot provide supervision. By registering, you take full responsibility for supervising your child(ren).

Question 7

Is there anywhere I can leave my pram?

Accepted Answer

For younger children in prams, most of our centres have pram parking spaces where you may be able to leave your pram for the duration of your stay.

Question 8

Do I need to bring anything to the event?

Accepted Answer

It's up to you. You don't need to bring anything particular on the day, but feel free to bring anything that your child may need or want, such as their favourite toy or water bottle. Our wonderful educators are very experienced at helping your child and family to feel safe and comfortable.

Do I need to prepare anything for the event?

It's up to you. If you haven't already, we recommend learning more about us on our centre page on the SDN website. You can also learn more about SDN by visiting our social channels and seeing some of the stories of what we get up to across our services.

What if I can't make the date?

Accepted Answer

We're sad you won't be able to join us on the day, but we understand that other plans are made in advance or may unexpectedly come up.
Instead, you can book a tour at any of our centres when convenient for you and depending on the centre's availability. Book via our site: www.sdn.org.au/book-a-tour

Does SDN have an integrated preschool program?

Yes. All our Early Education and Care Centres have a dedicated preschool program that prepares children for for the big transition to school.

Question 12

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Accepted Answer

We may not be able to meet all dietary requirements on the day of the event. However, our centre cooks are very well trained in catering to dietary requirements for children when in our care (such as gluten-free, vegetarian, nut or dairy free, etc.).

Is there parking available?

Accepted Answer

Many of our centres have parking spaces conveniently located out front or nearby. Parking spaces may be limited and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Plan your trip early to allow for time to locate the centre and find a parking space. Centres are all also accessible by public transport.

Question 14

I'm a student and/or an early childhood professional who's interested in attending, can I attend?

Yes! We welcome any students with a qualification or Early Childhood degree to attend our Open Day event too. It's a great opportunity to learn about traineeships, student placements, work experience and current roles available at SDN, as well as meet and speak to our current staff in person.

I'm a current family and would like to volunteer to help on the day.

All our Open Day events will be run by current staff from the centre, and are remunerated for their service. For current families wanting to help out and contribute in anyway, please register and let your Centre Director / team know.

I have accessibility or special requirements - who do I contact about this?
