Join artist and sculptor Mike Armstrong for an immersive five-day workshop dedicated to the art of sculpting the female form from life. This hands-on course will guide you step-by-step through the creation of a complete figurative sculpture — from armature to finished surface.

Over five full days in May (8:30 am–4:30 pm), you’ll learn to:

  • Design and construct a strong, balanced armature
  • Block in form and gesture with accuracy and rhythm
  • Understand key anatomical features of the female form
  • Use oil-based clay and sculpting tools with confidence
  • Capture proportion, balance, and character through observation
  • Model expressive hands, feet, and facial features
  • Develop refined surface finishes for presentation

All materials are provided, including oil-based clay, armature components, and professional sculpting tools. Fees also include professional model costs and light refreshments.

Each participant will receive a comprehensive handbook covering the course content and techniques demonstrated, and will complete their own figurative sculpture over the week.

The course will be held in Mike’s beautiful studio on Northbourne Avenue, Lyneham.
