This event will be in the format of a discussion panel, facilitated by the SC@M committee, in conversation with the following speakers:

Emma Neale

Collection Manager (Monash University Museum of Art)

Emma Neale joined MUMA as the Collection Manager in 2019. Emma's experience branches across registration and conservation disciplines, working at Art Centre Melbourne, The Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, University of Melbourne Baillieu Library and the University of Melbourne Archives. Prior to her role at MUMA, Emma held the position of Coordinating Registrar, Collection Operations at the National Gallery of Victoria, leading a team responsible for the management of the NGV's Permanent Collection. Emma holds a Masters of Cultural Materials Conservation with a specialisation in object conservation and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts History and Screen and Cultural Studies.

Eliana (Ellie) Urutia Bernard

Assistant Conservator, Objects (Grimwade Conservation Services)

Eliana joined Grimwade Conservation Services in March of 2022 with just over 9 years of conservation and collections management experience. Previously Eliana was employed by the Museum & Art Gallery Northern Territory where she perfected skills in the treatment and care of Australian indigenous art and ethnographic material as well as conducted numerous outreach programs to remote aboriginal art centres. Prior to this Eliana has undertaken contracts at various institutions and private collections both in Australia and the UK that include Museums Victoria, Manchester Art Gallery, Carlton & United Breweries and Cardinia Shire Council. Eliana is passionate about visual art with interests in bark paintings, sculpture, furniture, and decorative objects.

Madeleine Price

Conservator, Objects (Museums Victoria)

Madeleine Price started off with an arts undergraduate in archaeology and biological anthropology. After a stint working with museums collections whilst doing her honours, she realised that her truer passion lay in conservation and heritage. She completed her masters of cultural materials conservation (Melbourne university) in 2015 and has since worked in a variety of roles in Australia, overseas and in private practice.
