School Holidays: Learn Stop Motion Animation (12-17 years)

School Holidays: Learn Stop Motion Animation (12-17 years)

Hurstville Library and Service CentreHurstville, NSW
Tuesday, Apr 7 from 3 pm to 5 pm AEST
Overview

Have fun learning how to bring everyday objects to life through the magic of stop-motion animation!

Find out how Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run and Fantastic Mr. Fox look the way they do.

They are all examples of stop-motion animation. Stop-motion animation is the art of stitching still images together to create a moving image and while it takes some patience, it is amazingly easy to learn.

Using a still camera, a tripod and a little creativity, you can learn how to make inanimate objects come to life.

In this workshop, you will learn:

- how to make animation-ready models from clay

- how to plan your video using a storyboard

- how to use a tripod

- how to edit photographs together in Photoshop

- how to create a looping GIF file

Cost: $8.50

Age: 12-17 years

Experience: No previous experience in photography or video editing is required.

Equipment: Materials and equipment will be provided.

About the facilitator:

Will Chittick has worked professionally as a photographer since 2013 and has co-created animation projects with a number of primary school groups as well as contributing stop-motion animation to several music videos. He explains technical concepts in an approachable way and enjoys sharing his skills with emerging creatives.
