Save Our Jewel Benefit Gig
Event Information
About this Event
As you may or may not be aware, Melbourne rock babe extraordinaire and our close friend Jewel De Gelder is currently fighting stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her lymph and bones. Having undergone 3 rounds of chemotherapy so far this year with varying success, she is now searching for complementary treatment in a determined effort to fight the disease. Targeted radiation and Immunotherapy are two main avenues she is pursuing, neither of which are covered by Medicare.
Jewel is a well known, much loved and integral part of the Melbourne music scene. She has worked in most of the top rock bars and performed in many bands including her current band, Spawn.
We set up a very successful GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $40,000 since June. Our gratitude to everyone who has donated is beyond words. Unfortunately, due to the aggressive nature of the cancer and the costs involved, and also to help with Jewel’s basic needs and general life quality, we need to ask everyone’s help once more.
Obviously times are super tough right now, and money is an issue for many people. So instead of asking for more donations, we have put together a fundraiser to end all fundraisers!
We are in the process of organising an online raffle that will be launched next week, and have put together this special gig, on Jewel's 30th birthday, to be screened live from the Bendigo Hotel (obviously pending Covid restrictions lifting, but we are keeping the faith!).
Tickets are available through EventBrite, and we will be announcing the winners of the raffle on the night too.
It’s a beautiful opportunity for us all to come together to help one of our own. And to see some live music from 3 of Melbourne’s most beloved bands. Win win!
