Sashiko - Kugurisashi
Event Information
About this Event
This sashiko stitching workshop focusses on kugurisashi - one stitch sashiko with additional woven threads.
Vicki from Bonsai Woman will show you how to stitch two beautiful kugurisashi patterns using a long sashiko needle and Japanese thimble. Stitching technique and pattern drafting will be covered, then you will explore a colourful range of plant dyed threads and fabrics to give your work a contemporary edge.
Participants will take home at least one sample of each of the two patterns pictured. The samples will be large enough to turn into a pin cushion, lavender sachet, coaster or mount into a card.
Workshop includes a morning tea of Japanese snacks, and an introduction to the history of sashiko.
No embroidery experience is necessary.
