Maybe it is a physical thing, maybe a photo, or maybe just a memory, like of that time when you were 10 and you got asked to give a speech to the school on ANZAC day, and you wrote a speech about how silly and pointless it was that people died, and then you got told "no you can't read that, you have to write something about how they were heroes" and maybe there's a part of you that's still there and never felt OK to speak out about the world being stupid.
