SAFEGUARDING THE FLOCK
THE RESPONSE TO THE SEX ABUSE CRISIS

The workshop will address significant issues such as:

• Precise terminology
- Victim-survivor
- Sexual abuse
- Vulnerable person
- Safeguarding, protection
- Allegation (credible & non-credible)
- “Person of interest,” - accused, offender
- Prosecutor (promoter of justice)
• Presumption of innocence
• History of the Church’s response toclerical sexual abuse (denial)
• Collaboration with civil authorities
• Church’s penal preliminary investigation
• Changes needed in church law
• Restortion of the good name of the falsely accused
