Held at the Deakin Cats Community Centre Deakin Cats Community Centre is located on the ground floor of the Players Stand at the southern end of GMHBA Stadium. Please enter the ground via the Doug Wade Gate (Gate 8), located opposite the blue slide at Kardinia Pool.Who should do this training:Those working with students - teachers, school support staff, school counsellors, parent volunteers.Those involved in sporting clubs or community groups - Coaching staff, committee members, well being roles, team managers, parent/community volunteers What to Expect safeTALK is a half-day accredited workshop that prepares attendees, regardless of prior experience or training, to respond to people at risk of suicide. Most young people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with something in their lives. Through their words and actions, they often invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources, such as caregivers trained in ASIST.
