Frequently asked questions

Does mum or dad have to be there for the camp/sessions?

- No, and honestly we are not really set up for non-participants. Space is a premium so best thing is for mum/dad/etc to drop you off and let you do what you do.

What do I need to bring?

- Shorts/leggings, T-shirt, Towel, water bottle, chill out stuff (phone, book, etc) and a positive mental attitude.

What stuff needs to be signed?

- Before the camp (no later than 48 hours before) you will be sent a "Joining Instruction" which has all the information in it. Your parent/guardian will need to sign 1) Liability release/assumption of risk, 2) Research and media release, 3) Medical information (PAR-Q) and 4) Camp information form.

What if I can't be there all day?

- No stress, just inform staff and make sure you sign in/out as normal. Obviously, keep your parent/guardian informed.

What's the deal for arriving/leaving?

- On arrival: Sign in and put your departure time. When leaving: Sign out and inform staff so we can let your parents/guardian know. Obviously if your parent/guardian is there then just sign out and let staff know.

What if it gets too much during the day?

- It happens and it is not an issue. There is an area set aside to just chill and relax, so let the coach know and you're fine to step out. If it's really too much then simply grab a staff member and we will work with you to find a solution. We're all on the same team.

Do I have to attend every day?

- Short answer, no. We understand there are a lot of things happening. So just do what you can, you’re welcome when you can.

What's this research stuff about?

As you may have heard there is some pretty messed up stuff going on with radicalization and it is impacting young people (you might have seen it on YouTube and others recently). Your experience in the program helps improve it so it will help others who are being taken advantage of.

What if I am not sure about the research stuff or the information I give?

Excellent! Ask Bella or the coaches and they will happily discuss it as much as you need. This is a topic that impacts young people and we (as old people) don't have all the answers, so the more you can help the more we can help others. :-)
