SAE Adelaide is opening its doors this July for the SAE Create for a Day, a one-day program to expand your skills and get you working on inspiring creative projects in the fields of Animation, Audio, Film, Games or Electronic Music Production.

Are you creatively inclined and thinking about studying creative media? We are offering an exclusive one-day workshop this July – get behind the scenes and pursue your passion!

When: 6 July 2024 | 10 AM - 4 PM

Don’t miss out on your chance to experience life as an SAE student and discover what it means to be a creative professional in state-of-the-art facilities with industry experts by your side.

On the day, attendees will learn valuable practical and collaborative skills as they work towards building a creative piece of work. They will also receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge the creative project they have undertaken.

Due to the level of workshop content, this event is open to school students in years 10 and above.

Spaces for this event are extremely limited.

All workshop types run at the same time, therefore only one workshop type can be attended by an individual.

Cost: $25 per person (inc GST)

Unleash the illusion and magic of movement!

Learn the practical skills used in 2D animation & 3D modelling, and apply visual effects to bring your design to life.

AUDIO

Step into our world-class studios and be introduced to the principles of studio sound production, including recording and music production software, studio signal flow, microphone techniques, and other audio elements including post-production and mixing techniques.

FILM

Lights, camera, action!

Discover the principles of film production, from screenwriting and storyboarding, and camera operation to technical production on set, lighting, sound, editing, and post-production techniques.

GAMES

Love games? Want to know more about the process of Games Development? Then this is the workshop for you!

We’ll introduce you to the principles of Games Development, including games software, programming languages, game design principles and psychology, and prototyping, covering both analog and digital games concepts.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION

Experience life as a music producer as you are taken through the process of creating a track.

Within the one-day workshop, you'll learn sequencing, synthesis, mixing, and more! Our expert mentors will guide you through all the ins and outs of producing music using industry-standard software.

How does the schedule work?

Attendees will arrive before 10 am and spend the day in the classroom in their field of choice. Lunch will be provided on campus and at the end of the day students will go back home.

No accommodation is provided in the cost of the ticket.

Lunch will be provided in the cost. Please advise of any dietary requirements within event questions when purchasing. Or BYO if you are concerned. There are fridges on site.

What is the main purpose of this event?

This is not an Open Day. SAE Create for a Day is a one-day workshop event, where students get the chance to try equipment and work on real coursework, in order to assist with their career decision making. Attendees spend their day in the classroom, working with lecturers and industry professionals, to experience what student life is like at SAE.

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

Yes - Due to the level of workshop content, this event is open to school students in years 10 and above.

What are my transport options for getting to the event at SAE Adelaide campus?

Arriving by Car

Parking: there is very limited parking available around the Adelaide campus. We recommend choosing public transport or using the paid parking located behind the campus.

The closest bus stops are U2 Victoria Square North West Side 4-minute walk to campus), V1 King William Street West Side (4-minute walk to campus), D3 Grote Street North Side (4-minute walk to campus). The closest train station is Adelaide Central and the tram stop is Victoria Square.

What can / can't I bring to the event?

We recommend bringing along a notebook and pen, a USB with a minimum of 2GB space, a water bottle, a jumper or warm clothing for air-conditioned rooms, and any other items that you will need to participate in the classroom for the day (e.g. medications, stationery).

W e do cater for Dietary requirements, In case of concern, bring along some extra snacks.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please have your printed ticket or email version available for the reception team upon arrival, as proof of your purchase.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

All tickets are non-refundable. Spaces are very limited due to the popularity of these events, and we like to ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity.

If the event is cancelled in unforeseen circumstances, full refunds will be issued to ticket holders.

1. Change of Mind

Sorry, we are unable to provide refunds for change of mind.

2. Event Cancellation

In the unlikely event that Create for a Day Workshops are cancelled, participants will be notified and a full refund will be provided. In this event, the organiser will contact you to process your refund within one week of the event cancellation. Refunds will be processed back to the same card originally used to make the purchase.

3. Transfer to a Different Workshop

We understand that it can be difficult to decide which of our exciting workshops to attend. If you wish for your ticket to be transferred to a different workshop, at the same campus, please contact the organiser directly via email or phone during business hours on 03 8632 3400. Ticket transfers from one workshop to another can only be made if places remain. The organiser reserves the right to deny a ticket transfer.

4. SAE Promotional Material

By purchasing a Create for a Day ticket, you agree to SAE using any creative material that you produce during the workshop in its social channels and promotional material.
