SA Varroa Mite – Mid North and Southern Flinders Ranges Community Update (Jamestown)
The spread of varroa mite continues to impact beekeepers and our wider community, staying informed has never been more important.
Join us for an exclusive face-to-face Community Update Event to hear the latest information on varroa mite detections and management, local impacts, and what it means for backyard and commercial beekeepers, growers, and the broader community. This live event is designed specifically for the Mid North and Southern Flinders Ranges region.
At this session, you’ll learn:
- The current situation in South Australia specifically across the Mid North and Southern Flinders Ranges regions.
- How varroa mite affects bee health and pollination.
- What beekeepers need to do now.
- Practical steps for monitoring and management.
- Where to access support and resources.
The event will include live presentations from PIRSA's Varroa Development Officer followed by an interactive Q&A session, providing you with the opportunity to engage directly with us to have your questions addressed. This is an excellent opportunity to stay informed and connected with South Australia’s beekeeping community - individuals dedicated to protecting our bees and supporting local agriculture. We look forward to your participation.

Carparking: FREE onsite carparking is available, including wheelchair access.
Access: Enter via the main building door next to the main carpark, adjacent to the Gymnasium, we'll be meeting in the main function/meeting room.
Light refreshments provided. BYO dinner or we'll head to the local hotel after for a meal.

To maximise your learning opportunity especially if you have not attended 1 or more of the National Varroa Mite Management workshops, or would simply like to review the basics in Varroa Mite biology, behaviour and impacts on the honeybee - It is advised you complete the VARROA BASICS - Online Training before attending.
This online short course is expected to take 30 minutes to complete.
