Rustic Wares Workshop

Lisa West

Leap and Wander Studio

Come and discover your inner potter! We will pinch, roll, sip and nibble our way through 2 1/2 hours of fun in my studio on my farm in the Derwent Valley Tasmania. Beginners and novices this is for you! My sessions are more social and than serious though you will make some pieces you will be proud of and impress your family and friends. My workshops are inclusive and the environment supportive. First a quick note about virus procedures. So you can attend with confidence I have put together a COVID-19 Safety Plan. This will ensure we look after ourselves and each other. The main points are:1.Reduced number of attendees2.Increased cleaning of the space including use of ‘Viracleen’ treatment of all surfaces and tools3.Individual materials and tools - no sharing4.Supply of hand sanitiser for use before, during and after workshop 5.Pre workshop communication regarding the new procedures6.Reminder of procedures at the beginning of workshop7.Use of handwashing posters8.Observation of social distancing rules on the dayYou must not purchase a ticket if:1.you have any cold or fly like symptoms 2.you are in one of the vulnerable categories or have contact with a person in one of these categories3.you have tested for the Corona virus and are waiting for results4.you have tested positive for the Corona virus and should be in self quarantineIf you have any questions or are unsure if you should attend, please email or text me. :-) The clay we will be using has lots of gorgeous grit which is only fully seen once it has undergone the final glaze firing.  I have chosen it for this workshop because it is a very easy clay for beginners to use. It is full bodied and robust. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will be served. Please let me know if you have any specific dietary requirements. You are welcome to bring wine, beer, champagne etc, if you let me know before hand I will supply the glasses. I will fire and glaze your pieces in the 2 weeks after your session using a lovely gloss white glaze which contrasts beautifully with the unglazed areas. I will email you when they are ready so you can pick  up. If you are unable to pick up I can let you know the freight cost and send it to you. Any left pieces after 2 months will either be destroyed or  donated. No further costs except optional postage/freight of finished piecesWould you like a workshop just for your group?
