About this event

To commemorate National Child Protection Week, Uniting's Research and Social Policy team is hosting a webinar with Professor Daryl Higgins from the Institute of Child Protection Studies (ICPS) on the Australian Child Maltreatment study. This is the first national prevalence study of all forms of child abuse and neglect, and its health and mental health impacts across life.

These webinars are for everyone – whether you work in direct practice, training development, advocacy and media, or business development. These provide opportunities to broaden our perspective of the systems-level issues and barriers which we may already be aware of, but also to generate discussions and strengthen our advocacy with contemporary evidence.

About the webinar:

This hour-long webinar will explore the associations with individual maltreatment types, and the most common experiences of Australians: multi-type maltreatment. It will also discuss the implications for prevention, and trauma-informed interventions and service responses to address the epidemic of maltreatment and its impacts. There will also be a short Q&A during the webinar.

This webinar will include the discussion of experiences of maltreatment and trauma, and you are strongly encouraged to take a break from the webinar if you need to. There are several helpline services available, including:

Lifeline - 13 11 14

Child Protection Helpline - 13 21 11

Kids Helpline – 1800 551 800

NSW Sexual Violence Helpline – 1800 424 017

QLife – 1800 184 527 (webchat is also available on their website)
