Big Dance is the largest free celebration of dance in the world and it's hitting Australia in 2018!

Presented by Ausdance NSW, Big Dance is a free participatory dance festival, a celebration of dance for all ages and all levels of ability. Join thousands of people around Australia to perform the Big Dance, choreographed by acclaimed choreographers, Frances Rings and Craig Bary.

In partnership with Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), workshops will be held in Feburary and March to help you learn the Big Dance routine. These sessions are free and open to people of all ages and abilities. Register to secure your spot as spaces are limited.

No prior dance experience is necessary to participate.
This is an inclusive event. If you require mobility assistance or an interpreter, please let us know.

Thursday 1st March, 10:30am - 12:00pm
Thursday 22nd March, 10:30am - 12:00pm - Teach the Teachers Workshop (for teachers and proficient dancers) Please see FAQs.

Our workshops involve participants of all ages and abilities. Please be advised that if you are attending a Teach the Teacher Workshop specifically, that the length of the workshop will be 2 hours. The attendees of the Teach the Teacher Workshop will be learning all three parts of the Big Dance to take back to their dance communities to share with students. This workshop will be moving at a faster pace, therefore is appropriate for dance teachers and proficient dancers.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
RAD is located at 20 Farrell Avenue, Darlinghurst.

You can catch the train to Kings Cross station and the RAD is a 5 minute walk. Altenativley, get the train to Museum Station and then walk 19 minutes to the RAD.

Metered street parking is availible around Darlinghurst, however it is often limited in this area.

What can I bring into the event?

Wear comfortable clothes to move in and bring water to stay hydrated. Pack some snacks to munch on after the session. Bring lots of energy and enthusiasm, and get ready to learn the Big Dance!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

We aim to be environmentally sustainable for our our events. You do not need to print your confirmation email. Just let us know your name at the door.

Do I have to attend all the workshops?

No, you don't have to attend all the workshops. You can attend one session and practice the routine at home using our Big Dance online tutorial on the website. We also encourage you to get your family and friends to join you, to practice the routine together and join the rest of Australia to do the Big Dance on 29 April!

What if I can no longer make it to the workshop?

Due to limited spaces, we kindly ask that you only register if you are confident you can attend. We understand that at times, circumstances change unexpectedly. If you cannot attend and need to cancel your registration, please inform us at 24 hours before the workshop so that we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.
