About the Event

The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) welcomes all NYSF alumni, Rotary members as well as friends and partners of the organisation to this free event.

The NYSF Rotary and Alumni Evening event offers a fantastic opportunity for current NYSF students to mix with NYSF alumni to hear their stories, experiences and wisdom gained while pursuing study and career paths in STEM fields. NYSF partners are also invited to meet our alumni and to hears insight into their own STEM organisations and the work they undertake.

The vent will start with a keynote presentation by the NYSF alumna Sarah Luff followed by a facilitated panel discussion with NYSF alumni with a range of backgrounds and experiences.

The evening will conclude with a question and answer session and an opportunity for mingling and networking between the guests. A light evening supper will be provided along with non-alcoholic beverages.

About the Speaker

Sarah Luff: Growing up on a family farm near Gundagai, Sarah remains a country kid at heart. She was a 2001 NYSFer, who made a number of great friends, who she is still in contact with today. With a strong family background in Health, she gained a place in the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Canberra. Here she grew her love of science and the capabilities of the human body, especially the little ones. She completed post-graduate studies in Paediatrics and working at Sydney Children's Hospital Intensive care and operating Theatres. After a number of years, family reasons brought her closer to home, and was offered a number of opportunities working in Rural and Remote NSW. She was the inaugural Chair of MLHDs District Clinical Council. A calling to return to Sydney, was encouraged by an opportunity to work for NSW Health's State Governance body, as a Paediatric Patient Safety Analyst, working with Clinical Governance and Patient Safety teams across the state. An opportunistic conversation the lead to her current role at Deloitte. Utilising her broad history in Health, she works with consultants and clients to continue to work towards smarter outcomes for health. Her current project advances her Health Skills as it integrates artificially intelligent enabled technology, machine learning. cognitive processing and natural language processing to enable greater patient to nurse communications. She remains a Registered Nurse and continues to work with even smaller humans, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the RHW.
