What is it?Robot Royale by UNSW Founders, UNSW Create and Wollongong Robot Combat is a competition where custom robots fight head-to-head in our bulletproof-glass arena! What better way to learn engineering skills than to destructively test our robots over and over again? (Many of our competitors are not even engineers!)Participants have been building 150g and 1.36kg robots, using techniques including 3D printing, soldering, CNC milling and laser cutting! In the round robin, bots aim to score points by winning matches. The resulting score will seed them into the knock-out tournament later in the comp.This weekend, for the second time! Robot Royale is introducing our new beetle weight arena. Similar to the 150g robots, competitors now build 1.36kg robots. This is the largest beetle-weight arena of its kind in Aus.In the past, we've had competitors from Brisbane, Hobart, Perth, Port Macquarie, Canberra, Wollongong, Newcastle, and Sydney!Saturday 19th Sep 2026<ul><li>8 am - Doors open (Competitors only)</li><li>8 am - 9 am - Robot safety checks (Competitors only)</li><li>9 am - 1:30 pm (est) - Round robin matches (Spectators welcome)</li><li>2:30 pm - 5 pm (est) - Round robin matches (Spectators welcome)</li></ul>Sunday 19th Apr 2026<ul><li>9 am - 11:30 pm (est) - Single elimination tournament (Spectators welcome)</li><li>12:30 pm - 5 pm (est) - Single elimination tournament (Spectators welcome)</li></ul>SpectatorsAnyone is welcome to come watch! The matches will start at about 9:30 am and go until about 5 pm (with a lunch break in the middle). You can come and go at any time during the event.Competitors Anyone can learn to build a robot! You will hone your skills in 3D design, 3D printing, and electronics!
