R&J Your Lives Shall Pay the Forfeit of the Peace Presented by the Monash Shakespeare Company in the MUST Space
Chase a feeling. Break the rules. Play with fire.
A group of restless youths are drawn to the extremes of passion. Monash Shakespeare Company presents R&J, a manic collision of mischief and fury, May 2019.
In 1595 William Shakespeare wrote a story that would go on to define love stories forever. But Romeo and Juliet idolises a fatal version of love, and so often contemporary re-tellings overlook the flaws of their matrimony. A relationship constituted on impulsiveness and lust would not stand the test of time. Monash Shakespeare Company’s reworking of Romeo and Juliet challenges this dangerous foundational myth.
