Rethinking Communication Assessment and Intervention 2 Day Workshop
Join Michele Ricamato to explore communication assessment and intervention when traditional models don’t work.
Michele Ricamato: Rethinking Communication Assessment and Intervention
Join Michele Ricamato to explore communication assessment and intervention when traditional models do not work. This neuroaffirming workshop introduces a developmental, relationship based way of understanding how children communicate, especially those who do not show their skills easily in structured or test based settings.
Many assessments focus on what a child can perform in the moment, yet leave parents and professionals unsure what the child actually understands, how they are communicating, or what to work on next. This workshop shifts the focus from scores and tasks to observing communication as it happens through regulation, connection, shared attention, play, movement, emotion, and intention.
Participants will learn how to recognise meaningful communication beyond speech, understand what traditional assessments often miss, and use observation to guide respectful and effective intervention. The workshop offers a clear starting point for those who feel stuck, uncertain, or frustrated by approaches that do not fit the child in front of them.
Attendees will leave with greater clarity, practical ways to observe and support communication, and increased confidence in knowing where to begin and how to move forward in a way that honours neurodivergent children and their developmental pathways.
Places are limited.
