As part of the rollout of the Respectful Relationships initiative, Lead and Partner schools from the Wimmera South West are invited to attend this professional learning (PL) to assist staff to Recognise and Respond to Student Disclosures of Family Violence.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

This PL is designed for teaching staff, health & wellbeing teams, ESS and Principal class.

Ideally, schools will send 1-3 staff, depending on the size and capacity of each school.

CONTENT:

Family violence – common terms, indicators, red flags, unpacking myths, current reforms
Understanding fears and barriers to disclosing
Unconscious bias and how this influences our response
Practising conversations to hear and respond to a disclosure
Key steps to respond to a disclosure
Reporting requirements and tools – Child Safe Standards and PROTECT
Local referral options and ongoing support
Exploring “Team Around the Learner” as a framework for holistic, team-based, individualised ongoing support for all students
Self-care and triggers
