About this event

Researchers from ecology, mental health and economics will share research results to help support practice change on farms in the temperate eucalypt woodlands of south-eastern Australia.

The workshop will cover:

  • Research on the impacts of enhancing farm dams for water quality and biodiversity
  • Ecology findings – the latest results of long-term ecological monitoring in the woodlands (this research was supported by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant)
  • Mental health research into connections between biodiversity and wellbeing
  • Box gum grassy woodlands environmental accounts
  • Optimising investments in natural assets on farms
  • Discussion of the ways we can work with local partners to accelerate practice change by drawing on a strong evidence base, outreach and extension.

Speakers include leading ecologists Professor David Lindenmayer and Dr Ben Scheele, agricultural economist Dr Helena Clayton, mental health researchers Professor Philip Batterham and Kimberly Brown, and regional Sustainable Farms ecologists.

The workshop is ideal for natural resource management practitioners, Landcare coordinators, LLS staff, local government environment and conservation staff, researchers and other interested parties. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
