About this event

  • 7 hours

The tour will be led by Historian Michelle Nichols.

Experience a scenic drive across the rural Hawkesbury district and discover some of the historic cemeteries around the lesser-known parts of this historic region.

Discover the unique stories from some of the graves of early settlers and their families, as well as some of lesser-known residents. We will visit cemeteries at Wisemans Ferry, St Albans, Central McDonald, Sackville Reach and possibly an option of Ebenezer.

Some of the gravesites are formal in style, while others are less structured, some with a headstone, others unmarked, but all are a solemn reminder of the frailty of life and the difficulties of times gone by. There will be several ferry crossings across the majestic Hawkesbury River to travel to the various localities which will add to the enjoyment of the day.

Pack a BYO picnic lunch to be taken at an idyllic spot along the way.
