About this event

Do you have a pair of jeans or shorts that could do with a bit of TLC?

In this workshop, the marvelously creative Terri Walker, will show you how you can not only repair denim clothes but repair and 'funk them up' with sewing and machine embroidery techniques to give them a new and even more interesting lease of life - keeping them in use for longer!

The techniques that Terri uses also show you how those tight jeans can be made a bit bigger..!

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for people who are confident machine sewists and who understand the basic structure of clothing to unpick and remake. It's also for people who just want to give it a go and try something different and creative with their wardrobe.

People who like to be free with their creativity!

What do I bring?

You will need to bring an item of denim clothing (pants or shorts) you want to work on for this workshop. Preferably 100% cotton denim - ie no to little stretch - men's jeans often work the best.

Some double-sided facing or Vliesofix - you won't need much, 1-2 x A4 size sheets depending on the size of the patches you want to make. Available from Spotlight.

All other materials and tools will be supplied with a variety of scrap materials for patching. However, if you have any special fabric patches or fabric scraps (such as lace, doilies, fringing or applique pieces) you would like to use to upcycle your denim piece, please feel free to also bring these with you.

We hope to see you at The ReDress Hub soon!

Terri Walker is retired now, but spent her life working as a Speech Pathologist. Her real passion however was for all things craft. Terri taught herself to knit when she was at University and produced many patterned jumpers in the 80s.

In the 90s when her children came along, Terri branched out into all things sewing and quilting. She joined a local craft group in the little town of Gympie, Queensland where the family were living at the time.

Now she is excited to be able to share her knowledge and skills with you to help keep your clothes in use for longer by using these techniques of sewing and quilting and applying them in a new way.

She hopes to see your smiling faces at these workshops soon!
