Join Uniting Vic. Tas. The Diversity Project, Northeast Health Wangaratta and LINE Wangaratta for the next Regional LGBTIQA+ Community of Practice.
The next session will feature guest speaker Dr. Rachel Richardson, who will speak about human rights for Transgender people and the role of allies in achieving those outcomes.
Dr. Rachel Richardson is a recently retired academic living in regional Victoria where she raised her three – now adult – children. Prior to her retirement, Rachel was the Sub-Dean, Learning and Teaching, with Charles Sturt University. Her career in education spans over 35 years across a range of settings from early years teaching to University leadership and management.
Rachel’s doctoral studies explored the lived experience of children socially rejected in early childhood. Her research and publications are focussed on young children’s development and early childhood teacher education.
Today as the Chair of the Board for the national charity, Transcend Australia, Rachel advocates for the human rights of Trans, Gender Diverse, and Non-Binary children and young people across Australia. When she’s not working for the Board of Transcend Australia, she is taming her wayward garden, cooking, reading and – in the quieter moments - writing.
Registrations for the next session are essential.
The Regional LGBTIQA+ Community of Practice was formed in 2019 to meet the LGBTQIA+ education needs of services and organisations within the Hume region of Victoria. The quarterly sessions have previously featured speakers from Rainbow Health Victoria, Intersex Peer Support Australia and more!
