Event description

Description

In 2013, Kurdish journalist Behrouz Boochani was detained on Manus Island. He has been there ever since.

'No Friend But The Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison' is the result. Laboriously tapped out on a mobile phone, it was translated from Farsi to English by Dr Omid Tofighian, before making its way to bookshelves in Australia. Earlier this year it was awarded the 2019 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Non-fiction and Literature.

Join Behrouz Boochani and Dr Omid Tofighian in conversation with David Marr, discussing this incredible novel, the collaborative process and the importance of art and literature in advocacy and human rights.
